Annual program; Summer Reading at the Dickinson County Library

The Solomonson Branch of the Dickinson County Library offers programming all year, but the Summer Reading Program is our largest annual event.  Registration begins shortly after school ends each year.  The Summer Reading Program is open to kids of all ages (0-18) and we offer a program for adults too!  This FREE program runs for 6-8 weeks each summer!  To find out more, visit our website

Monthly program; A Novel Bunch Book Club

There is also a monthly book club that meets in Norway.  The 'A Novel Bunch Book Club' meets the second Wednesday of each month at 2:30 p.m. at the Norway Library.  Book selections and reading guides can be found at our website:  http://www.dcl-lib.org/norwaybookclub.

Lego Club Thursday, March 1, 3:30 PM @ Solomonson Tuesday, March 6, 4 PM @ Main Build yourself up at Lego Club, Thursday, March 1, 3:30 PM at the Dickinson County Library—Solomonson Branch and Tuesday, March 6, 4 PM at the Main Branch! Kids can explore structural design and teamwork while using Legos to build fantastic structures, dreamscapes, and more! Each month will feature a mystery theme that will be revealed at Lego Club. For Grades 3-8.
9th Annual Prom Dress Swap Saturday, March 3, 11 AM-5 PM @ Main 11 AM-12 PM: Promgoers with tickets only, 12 PM-5 PM: General Admission Sunday, March 4, 1-3:30 PM General Admission @ Main The Dickinson County Library will host the 9th Annual Prom Dress Swap on Saturday, March 3, from 11 AM to 5 PM and Sunday, March 4, 1-3:30 PM at the Dickinson County Library—Main Branch! Promgoers (teen girls in grades 9-12) are invited to attend the swap to take home a FREE formal dress and items from our selection of jewelry and accessories! The first hour of the swap, from 11 AM-12 PM on Saturday, March 3, is reserved for promgoers who have a ticket: obtain a ticket by donating a dress to the swap by Friday, March 2! Teens who do not donate a dress may attend the swap from 12-5 PM on Saturday, March 3 and 1-3:30 PM on Sunday, March 4. While prizes last, teens attending the Swap will instantly win raffle prizes from area businesses for hair, nails, tanning, dinner, flowers, and much more! Donations of dresses, shoes, jewelry, or other accessories will be accepted through Friday, March 2. New this year: donors who are not attending the Swap will have a chance to win a prize from an area business, so be sure to leave your name and phone number when you donate! If you have any questions about the donations, or the Swap in general, please call 774-1218. For Grades 9-12: Donations welcome from anyone.
Teen Tech Week: Celebrate March 5-9 @ DCL Explore: Makey Makey Games: Monday, March 5, Wednesday, March 7, Thursday, March 8 and Friday, March 9, 3-5 PM plus Thursday, March 8, 5-8:30 PM @ Main Mystery Craft Kits: All Week @ Solomonson and @ North Dickinson Teen Tech Week is an annual celebration of great library resources which help teens to succeed in school and prepare for 21st century careers. In addition to our research, homework help, and reading resources, the library provides young people with opportunities to design, build, and create! This year, the Dickinson County Library is focusing on the theme, “Libraries Are For Creating,” by offering Explore: Makey Makey Games at the Main Branch, and Mystery Maker craft kits at the Solomonson and North Dickinson Branches, Monday March 5--Friday, March 9! Have you ever played Mario or Tetris with a Play-Doh controller? Visit the Main Branch for Explore: Makey Makey Games, 3-5 PM on Monday, March 5, Wednesday, March 7, Thursday, March 8 and Friday, March 9, with additional evening time from 5-8:30 PM on Thursday, March 8. Ask for Young Adult Specialist Chelsea: we’ll set up the Makey Makey kit together, and then you can beat your high score on these fun classic games using Play-Doh for your controls! Pick up a Mystery Craft Kit any time during the week at the Solomonson and North Dickinson Branches! These kits will include all the pieces and instructions you need to create something fun! Join us for Family Games Nights, Wednesday, March 7, 6 PM at the Dickinson County Library—Main and Solomonson Branches, and Thursday, March 22, 6 PM at the Main Branch! Kids, teens, and families are invited to drop in any time during the program to play our variety of board and card games, or bring your own games! Bring a game buddy, or challenge other attendees to a friendly competition! For All Ages.


Novel Bunch Book Club
Wednesday, March 14, 2 PM @ Solomonson

 A Novel Bunch Book Club will meet Wednesday, March 14, 2 PM at the Dickinson County Library—Solomonson Branch. The Novel Bunch book selection is chosen at the meeting each month for the upcoming month: attend the program to cast your vote! Reading guides for this book are available at the Solomonson Branch and on the Dickinson County Library website, www.dcl-lib.org/norwaybookclub. New members are always welcome!


Adult Winter Reading Ends!
Friday, March 23 @ All Branches!

To take advantage of the cold weather season, the Dickinson County Library will be hosting Cocoa Club, an Adult Winter Reading program! The program will begin on Monday, January 29 and last through Friday, March 23. Adults 18 and over can sign up at any branch of the Dickinson County Library and receive a reading log to keep track of their books over the winter months. Turn in your reading log or record all of your books on Wandoo Reader by Friday, March 23 to be entered to win prizes!
