Recycling - (906) 563-9961 - dpw@norwaymi.com
The City of Norway has started a recycling program. Recycle collection containers are located at the City of Norway DPW shop lot located at 400 10th Avenue. The containers are accessible 24 hrs a day. The items we collect are tin/metal, plastic (#1 clear/transparent and #2 cloudy/opaque...usually). We also have old dumpsters located behind the fence where you can drop off scrape iron—daily 7 am to 3:30 pm. A separate container for paper (everything except cardboard) is also available. We might collect waste oil in the future.
The City has guidelines to follow—print a pdf here, or pick up a printed copy at the Norway City Hall. For plastic, look on the bottom of the container for a #1 or #2, rinse well, remove caps and rings, and if possible remove labels.
The guidelines explain how to dispose of materials. We also run a city composting site located at the Waste Water Treatment Plant (take road just south of Danielson's Greenhouse) where you can drop of compostable materials like grass, leaves and brush.
DO NOT DROP OFF HAZARDOUS WASTE! This can be taken to the GAD collection site in Quinnesec (take road just west of movie theatres off HWY 2). GAD/Dickinson Cty Recycling Program
