Recycle Information
Recycle Program
The City of Norway has started a recycling program. There is a recycle collection container located at the City of Norway DPW shop lot. The hours are Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM until 3:30 PM. The items we collect are tin/metal, plastic and glass. We also have some old dumpsters where you can drop off scrape iron. We are working on getting a separate container for paper and cardboard. We are also looking into collecting waste oil in the future.
The City has guidelines to follow. If you wish to drop off recyclable items, a copy can be picked up at the Norway City Hall. For plastic, look on the bottom of the container for a #1 or #2, rinse well, remove caps and rings, and if possible remove labels. For glass, we accept bottles and jars that are clear, brown, or green with no caps, lids or labels. DO NOT DROP OFF HAZARDOUS WASTE! This can be brought to the collection site in Quinnesec. The guide we have at City Hall will explain how to dispose of any materials you have. We also have a compost site located at the Waste Water Treatment Plant where you can drop of compostable materials like grass, leaves and brush.
