Clean-up Weeks for Norway Citizens—April 13 - April 23 Each spring and fall the City of Norway offers free pick-up of many large or awkward items to its citizens. If you would like to participate, please have all of your items, separated and out on the curb or alley the first day of collection. (This is for items not collected with normal garbage pick up.) City crews collect the items during the hours of 7 am and 3:30 pm for the two weeks of Spring or Fall Clean-up. Following are the items the city will take away: 1. Garden debris: Leaves, branches — 4' long or less, butt ends facing street, grass clippings, garden and yard waste in bags or containers 2. Household furniture: chairs, tables, mattresses, beds, etc. Refrigerators and freezers tagged with a "Freon removed" sticker will also be removed. 3. Small home project/remodeling debris: metal pieces; chunks of concrete — one foot square; lumber pieces; paneling pieces; dry wall pieces; etc. All items piled separately or in separate containers, and in organized, manageable groups. FAQ's Where should we put items we have for the clean-up? Please put them near your regular weekly garbage cans, or on the curb. If we have not collected your items after the two weeks are up please give us a call. Why do you want the stuff out on the first day of the clean-up week? Having your items out on the first day of collection helps us organize and group the pick-ups we need to make. We're more efficient, and you are all finished with your personal home clean-up. Where would we get a "Freon has been removed" sticker? Peterson's Electric, Main St, Norway, will remove the Freon in your refrigerator or freezer for $25. Take your appliance to the back entrance, pay them $25, they will remove the freon and dispose of the appliance, too.
