The Leif Erikson Fall Festival, held annually, celebrates the Viking history that the Norway area traces some of its roots to. The many happenings hosted throughout our small town over the course of Leif Erikson Weekend are rather diverse, ranging from competitive racing, the crowning of Miss Norway, and the Leif Erikson Parade, to antique and art displays, musical performances, and the "Funeral Pyre" boat-burning on the Night of the Viking. The weekend includes fall produce, activities just for children, a mini zoo, horse rides, wagon rides, and more.

Leif Erikson Viking Festival is coming to Downtown Norway on Saturday, October 10th — and we need your help making it great! Applications are now open for the following with links below:

  • Friend of Norway Award (Nomination) — Nominate someone who's made a meaningful contribution to the Norway community. Winner receives the "Key to the City" and takes part in the parade. Due September 30. (Download Application)

  • Norse King & Queen Application — For current high school juniors/seniors living in the Norway Area School District. Selected court represents Norway as youth ambassadors; coronation is at the City Bandshell, 11:00 AM on festival day. Due September 15. (Download Application)

  • Art & Artisan Market — Vendor Application — For artists, crafters, woodworkers, and makers. Indoor ($25–$50) and outdoor ($25) spaces available. Due September 15, with notification by September 20. (Download Application)

  • Taste of Norway — Food Vendor Application — For restaurants, caterers, bakers, and food vendors. Scandinavian-inspired dishes encouraged but not required. Due September 30. (Download Application)

Leif Erikson Viking Festival (Schedule of Events)
October 10, 2026 | Main Street, Downtown Norway

The Leif Erikson Viking Festival returns to Downtown Norway on Saturday, October 10, 2026, with a full day of events for the whole family.

9:00 AM — Leif's Run
A 2-mile, 5K, or 10K run starting and finishing at Norway City Hall, with chip timing by Tortoise & Hare. Register at RunSignUp.com/LeifsRun.

10:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Hay Wagon Rides, the Art & Artisan Market, and free children's activities — including bounce houses, face painting, Viking costume making, and a walk in the Leif's Parade — take place at Mike's on Main and the American Legion. A Traditional Cornish Pasty baking demonstration with Renee Pollard begins at 10:00 AM. The Food Vendors Village, located near the Bandshell, and Taste of Norway (Mama Bear's Brew, morning only, at City Hall) offer food throughout the day, alongside Leif specials from Mike's on Main, Mister Mom's, Knight Owl, Maule's on Main, and The Thirsty Whale.

11:10 AM — Miss Norway & Norse King Crowning
Organized by the Norway Area Preservation Society (NAPS), followed by the Friend of Norway recognition.

12:00 PM — Parade
Main Street hosts the festival parade, along with voting for the Pumpkin Palooza winner and City of Norway Energy Week winners.

1:00 – 2:30 PM — Live Music
Victorious performs at the City Bandshell.

7:00 PM — Viking Funeral
Held at Strawberry Lake.

Throughout the day: Viking re-enactments and demonstrations, axe throwing near City Hall, and a Glögg demonstration (warm spiced mulled wine) at Mister Mom's.
