Northern Interstate Bank originated as the First National Bank in 1901, making it the oldest business in Norway, Michigan.

In 2017, the bank merged with First National Bank of Crystal Falls to become Northern Interstate Bank. Besides the Norway and Crystal Falls locations, Northern Interstate Bank has branches in Iron Mountain, Powers, and North Dickinson.
